Environmental Protection Department has done Bromate testing in local water bottling manufacturers. Al Shifa Healthy Water plant located in Al Hasa area was found exceeding the recommended level 10ppb as well as SASO recommended level. Therefore, Saudi Aramco has suspended the subject supplier until such time the company is able to manage the bromate level in bottled water. Bromate is known as a carcinogenic(مسرطنة) substance.
